Don't ya just love this new banner? It is so fresh and I love the font style! Made by a sweet friend and fabulous artist of many mediums (graphics design, photography, etc) ..... Sandy from Sam I Am Creations or her blog http://www.samiamcreations.blogspot.com/ .
(She's the backbone of The PFATT Marketplace site as well)
If you want a custom banner for your blog, custom business banners, etc...... she is the gal that can do one for you. If only she lived closer to me...I would hire her for photography...it's wonderful! Check it out!

Frump-a-licious Old Prim TEddy Bear!

This old guy really makes me smile....he is so very old & worn looking.

When I was making him......I imagined that he was stored away carefully in a little trunk after being loved for very many years. His owner since passed on and now after cleaning out the attic, a dusty little trunk is found...... I quickly open it to see what kind of treasures are inside......and to my surprise....an adorable old & worn little teddy bear is peering back at me with his antique shoe button eyes!

Come see more of this frumpy guy ....he is available on ebay right now. Just click on the sidebar for more pics and details....

Trying to Cope - Mood Art

I just haven't been myself these past few weeks. Not really feeling much like working on my normal whimsy characters. My mind has been very unsettled and my heart saddened. I don't usually write much of my personal life on my blog, but I think I just need the feeling of solace.

It's my Mom.....she has been in poor health for a good couple years now. She has numerous health problems, she was forced to succumb to a wheelchair a few years back because they had to amputate both legs and a few fingers from a progressive disease called, Raynaud's. It strikes your circulatory system which makes it so that your blood does not flow to your extremities and they eventually die. It also slowly attacks your organs which has weakend her heart over the years.....and now the doctors believe she is in stage D Congestive Heart Failure. She is only 67, was always full of life & very active, before the disease took over. She will most likely have to go to the hospital next week so they can start the process of draining all the fluids she is retaining so badly. She can't breathe either and she is already on oxygen at home too. So her health is rapidly declining.
.
So I am trying to cope.
.
There is actually a thing called "Mood Art"..... where a work of art is generated by the artists' state of mind or feelings. I think this piece I am working on today interprets my mood. I had all the parts & pieces lying around my studio and I pulled them all together little by little..... And now after I see the pictures.....I think I want it to be "HOPE" instead of "DREAM" and add some type of old paper angel wings....... I want to give it to Mom.

Another JURAF !

Thank you so much everybody for giving my new Giraffe design a great big thumbs up! So I was back in my studio working on my second one....I did tweek his face just slightly so he has a bit more "chub" in his cheek and I'm pleased at how he turned out.

I really enjoy making these guys...they are really challenging with all the handtinted spots and extra details with the horns and mane. Each one will come out different and have their own little personalities.

"I'm sorry for being naughty Mr Clown "

He is now available on EBAY as a 3-DAY auction.....and it will end this Thursday May 14th...
I have lots more pics on the listing...so just click on the ebay button on the sidebar....

A New Vintage-Shabby Pug Dog

Oh just look at that face.......only a Mother could love ! I haven't made a pug dawg in awhile so I just finished up a teacup vintage shabby style ....which is now available on ebay as a 3-day auction. Just click on the ebay button on my side bar to see lots more pics and details.
I call this one....Key To My Heart ... because of the antique rusty barrel or clock key. She wears a tiny vintage aged pink dolly coat. I thought it was a bit plain so I added a piece of vintage aged lace as an inset underneath.....just what she needed.
Here she is with my china doll that I repaired (see the vintage finds blog post for more details). She just fits in so perfect with other antique dolls. I had to take a picture with her sitting in a trunk with my collection of old dollies......I love it!
I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!

A New Dawg Design......

I really enjoy working on dawgs...they are such a challenge, coming up with the different head designs and then of course the fun of hand tinting the markings! I really like to make them unique and fun, adding whimsy but keeping to a very old antique toy look.....and so I present to you my newest design.....the Whimsical Hound Dog!
Although I was not really going for a particular breed or inspired by one particular dog this time..... I just let my creativity spill over to see what unique character could be born...... which ultimately turned into more of a hound dog look :)

And I really like the end result, and of course he is keeping with my all time fave theme.... The Vintage Circus :) I am currently offering him on ebay as a 3-day auction so if you want to see alot more pics and details you can click on the link provided in my sidebar. He was a little stinker trying to get some good photographs....I don't think I captured how truly "Wuvvable" he really is :)
Well it's back to the studio for me.....hmmmmm what breed should I make next ?? I have so many ideas but never enough time......
Enjoy your day and make it a good one! Bye for now.

Old Sailor Bear......

I'm so excited to offer this fantastic old sailor style bear ! He really came out great! It is really hard for me to part with this guy......I found this wonderful vintage sailor style red dolly top and thought it would be perfect for an old brown color bear to wear. The top had ugly white buttons so I removed the old ones and put on these vintage old cloth covered round buttons....soooo much nicer :) . I also wanted to make this guy special so I gave him one of my antique campaign rosette ribbons and a vintage metal military button in the center......... he came together so nice ...as if he was made about 75 years ago :)
He is available for sale on ebay.......it is a 3-day auction and will end this Monday.
~~
Shhhhh......I'm actually taking a day off of work......Tomorrow is my friends annual "Sick Of Winter" party held outside on the shores of Oneida Lake....brrrrrr.... lots of food, drinks and people (and a giant fire to keep us warm...if the drinks don't...haha) .....It's a time to catch up with old friends because most of us don't see eachother very often during winter. It is also a chance to sample each of our homemade wines and other various cocktails. You see, there are about 10 couples that make our own wine.....you would be surprised at how different each one tastes, even though we start out the same time of year an get the same batch of grape juice to start! Well I hope you have a wonderful weekend whatever you do. Perhaps I'll even get a few pictures to share :) Cheers!

Altered Art...Mixed Media...Steampunk Art....

I really don't know what to call my newest pieces that I made? I made one for The Primitive Gathering and now I have another original piece of art to offer ...... I currently have her on ebay as a 3-day auction in case you want to see a bunch more pictures and details.....

You know, every once in awhile, an artist has to change up their work, yet still remain true to their style. Otherwise you get what is called "burnout"..... you all know what I'm talkin' about. I'm sure most of you have been there and back...it ain't pretty!
Well, I believe I'm one of those artists that has to change up the things that I am working on or I go crazy. There are so many ideas bouncing around in my head that just have to be designed or created....and I love working with different materials and vintage finds to come up with a really great piece of art.

Since I'm totally THINKING SPRING right now....I have my flower head folks on my brain and thinking of ways to work them into really cool pieces.......I did it these designs using vintage bottles and other vintage finds.
Here is one piece that I am truly smitten with and thought I would share. I thought I would do this one with a Cream On Cream color scheme because I know that there are alot of people who collect and decorate with just the cream & white colors!
You can go to the ebay link to read about all the wonderful vintage materials that I used....plus her bidding doesn't end until Friday.

PINK ANGEL PUG....OH MY!

I just couldn't think of a more fitting character to wear my last pair of angel wings.....why who else, but an adorable Pink Pug, of course!

This was my last of the 2 pairs of wings I had found. I decided on a pink pug and go with a shabby pink theme. I used lots of vintage materials on this girl.

I even altered a wonderful old vintage childs dress because it had such lovely delicate lace around the collar and sleeves. I decided on a romper style and added vintage scalloped pink dot trim to the bottom of the legs.....toooo cute! I gave her an antique typewriter key with the letter "A" for Angel as well as a vintage pearl and pale pink glass ornament.

Her wings are removable too, so you can display he all year round.....just perfect with antique dollys too!

She is now on ebay in case you want to see lots more pictures and details.......her auction ends this Monday. You can click on my ebay link to take you there.

Wren.....the keeper of birdhouses

She is on ebay now if you want to see more details.......she wears this wonderful vintage dolly dress with the most adorable faded blue & white flowers!!!
