Trash To Treasure

Every once in a while you find these really cool things at antique shops, flea markets or junk swaps. And the original intended use of the item is not what it is but what it can be!

You have this creative side to you. You see something else in that trash but you're not quite sure at the moment what it could be? You buy it anyway. You bring it home. You place your new found treasure with all the other little treasures.....waiting to be "reborn".

Then that moment comes when you finally turn your little piece of trash into that magnificant little treasure! I have a little trash to treasure piece that I wanted to share today. I found this really cool old chalkware clown head that is originally a bottle opener.

And I already had a stash of old vintage grain sacks laying around that had great graphics. I took the sack and made a body. Filled it with sand, gravel and wood wool (like my bears). Then I stuck the opener into the neck opening and gathered and glued the fabric to the clown head neck. I added vintage red polka dot cotton for a collar and gave him some really old childs toy wood beads.

And here is the finished result! I think he really came out cute (he is 10") and very old looking....love him! He's got that classic simple charm about him!
