A little Whimsie on the patio!

A day of cleaning, decorating and creating an outdoor patio area yesterday. I really like the way it turned out. This patio area is located outside underneath our second floor wood deck. It is an area that we have not used since we built the upper deck. I thought it was time to utilize it this year and turn it into a really nice old "shabby chic patio area". A place where you can get out of the sun to sip lemonade or relax and read a book. As you can see, my cat Missy, had already found a nice comfy spot to take a nap after Mom did all the work!

The fun and whimsical part about the space is that I had this idea kicking around in my head to use a bunch of great old shabby painted windows and a door that I already had stored in the shed. I didn't want to actually build a wall and enclose the space so I had my husband get chain at the hardware store and suspend the windows from the upper deck floor. And I have to say the look is really quite nice and very unexpected! Plus, if I didn't like it then I could always take them down with no damage done. But to my surprise I really like the look. The response I got from my kids......really artsy fartsy Mom!
I was going for the blue and white shabby chic look with a splash of pale pinks from the pillows I made from an old shabby tablecloth. The entire patio was put together without buying anything but the hardware. It was stuff I already had stored around the house and shed. Now if I only can find the time to actually use it!!!
